Al-Najjar ranks 11th in the “World Weightlifting Championships”
The weightlifting team returned at dawn today from Bahrain, after participating in the World Championship hosted by the capital, Manama, and concluded with the over 109 kg weight competitions, in which the national team player, Mu’ayyad Al-Najjar, came in 11th place, after his total lifts reached 381 kg “168 snatches and 213 clean and jerk”, Mai Al-Madani came in 39th place in the 64 kg weight class with a total of 152 kg (67 snatch and 85 clean and jerk), while a tear in Ezz El-Din Al-Ghafir, the third player on the team, prevented him from participating in the 109 kg weight class.

The mission was headed by Sheikha Al Kaabi, a member of the Women’s Committee of the Weightlifting Federation, along with Abdul Rahman Mohammed and Maher Qarbi, coaches of the national team and Abu Dhabi Club respectively, Khalifa Al Zaabi, Director of Support Services at the club, and Omar Shaddad, Secretary of the club.
Maher Qarbi said: I believe that the result achieved by Mu’ayyad Al-Najjar is good, especially since it is his first appearance in the event, which is considered the strongest and most important in the game after the Olympics, and to occupy the 11th place globally represents a good step towards advancing to better positions in the upcoming tournaments.
He added: We were hoping for the participation of Ezz El-Din El-Ghafir, who we expected to achieve a good position in his weight, and to be a competitor for the first three places, and in the worst case scenario, to be among the top five in the 109 kg weight in the world, but the injury prevented him from competing in this event, as he suffered a minor tear, and we preferred not to risk him so that the injury would not worsen, and we hope that he will be present in the upcoming championships.
